This is a debate between Prof. Osterhammel and Prof. Bayly about their approaches to writing world history, following the publications of "The Transformation of the World" (currently in the process of translation from German) by Osterhammel and "The Birth of the Modern World" by Bayly. The debate will be followed by a roundtable discussion with the following participants: Profs. Rosalind O' Hanlon, Chris Clark and Hans van de Ven, Drs. Andrew Arsan, Leigh Denault, and William O' Reilly. Location: St John's College, Cambridge; 10.20-13.00 on 26 March.
