CALL FOR PAPERS: WCAAS
The Western Conference of the Association for Asian Studies invites proposals for papers and panels on all aspects of Asian Studies for WCAAS 2010, October 22-24 at California State University, Northridge.
Conference Theme:
Translating Asia: Past, Present and Future
To translate can mean to render into another language, to interpret, and to transform. Each of these meanings is central to both the subject matter and the methodology of Asian studies. For this conference we encourage papers that explore the role of translation in studying Asia past and present.
While the conference is primarily for faculty members, graduate students are also welcome to submit papers, as are those who venture outside traditional disciplines. Those considering contributing are welcome to contact faculty members at California State University, Northridge, whose interests they feel are compatible with theirs for suggestions about organizing panels or roundtables.
To propose a Paper, a Panel, or Roundtable Forum, please use the relevant application form at http://www.csun.edu/wcaas. The submission deadline is April 15.
Queries concerning the conference should be sent to Prof. Aki Hirota at wcaas@csun.edu.
