The Institute of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad's Thought (IPDM), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) is pleased to announce a Seminar on National Resilience (SNAR 2010) : Political Management and Policies in Malaysia, to be held 13-15 July 2010 at Bayview Hotel, Langkawi. This seminar will be a platform for discussing many political and policy related issues in strengthening and enlightening the Malaysian public and nation in the future.
Since the Independence, Malaysia has faced many challenges in building up the country and the nation. The country has witnessed many efforts that have done by the government in maintaining and transforming the political system, democracy, and public policies. Lately, there have been many issues involving neighbouring countries, such as the separatist movement in Southern Thailand, air pollution caused by haze in Indonesia, and illegal immigrants, all of which make Malaysia more involved in global decision-making activities. World financial and economic crises too have witnessed the changing of Malaysia policies in order to better serve the nation, neighbouring states, and also the world.
It is hoped that seminar will bring together academicians, policies makers, practitioners, and interest individuals and prominent paper presenters from various parts of the world, to participate in fruitful dialogues and also the sharing of experience and ideas regarding the political management and policies in Malaysia
