Asian and African Energy

The Institute of Asian and African Studies of Lomonosov Moscow State University is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for a new subsection of the International student, postgraduate and young scientist conference 'Lomonosov' Asian and African Energy. You are cordially invited to submit your abstracts on a range of topics including, but not limited to, those highlighted below. The deadline for the receipt of abstracts is February 28, 2010, 7 p.m. Moscow time.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: Students (Specialists, Bachelors or Masters), postgraduate students, young schollars from any country who are under the age of 35; students and employees of Russian and foreign universities, postgraduates and research workers are all invited to participate in the conference.
CONFERENCE THEMES AND TOPICS: The following is a list of suggested topics that are of interest, but suggestions outside these areas are encouraged and will be considered.

Alternatives for coal.

ABSTRACT FORMAT: Those wishing to participate in the conference should create an account on the conference portal (http://www.lomonosov-msu.ru/eng/index.html) and fill in the application form (http://lomonosov-msu.ru/eng/take_part/200/), where they are to present their abstracts. The application form will be available until February 28, 2010.
Formatting instructions:
1. Page limit: 12 single-spaced A4 pages (about 900 words, or 7,000 characters and spaces) in 12 point Times New Roman font.
2. Pictures and graphs must be black-and-white and clear. Pictures should be uploaded after abstracts, as jpeg or png files. Table headings must not be tinted or bold-typed. Table cells may be highlighted with grey or black only if they contain especially important information.
3. Formulas must be typed using MS Equation Editor. Manual hyphenation should be avoided.
4. The list of references should be ordered alphabetically by the authors surnames: first Russian-language literature, then foreign-language literature, then online resources. Items on the list must be numbered with figures in brackets, e.g. [1].
5. Use the author-date (Harvard) system of referencing.
6. Abstracts must contain the following information, which will be generated by the conference website and does not need to be pasted into the abstract section of the application (this information must be centred):
Headline;
Authors (authors) surname(s), name(s), patronymic(s);
Current academic status, academic degree;
Full name of the university/institute, faculty, city, country.
Email.
7. Abstracts must be spellchecked.

The working languages of the 'Lomonosov' conference are Russian and English.
All abstracts will be reviewed by the sections expert committee. A list of selected participants and their abstracts will be available on the conference website (http://www.lomonosov-msu.ru/eng/index.html) in March.
FEES: Participation in the conference is free of charge.
CDs: Each participant will get a free copy of the Conference CD with full texts of abstracts (with ISBN).
According to the results of the conference, the authors of the best reports will be awarded special honorary diplomas. After the conference a book with the best reports will be published in the Moscow State University series 'Lomonosov Science Bulletin'.
RESIDENCE & VISAS: The Institute of Asian and African Studies does not have funds to provide help with travel or accommodation costs. However, we have prepared a list of hotels participants can stay at. We shall also provide participants with useful information concerning Moscow public transport they can take to get to their hotels from the airport/railway station. The necessary information about residence will be available in mid-March.
Please take into consideration: Most non-Russian citizens require a visa to enter Russia. If you need visa support, we should get your application by February 20, 2010.
CONFERENCE VENUE: The conference venue is the Institute of Asian and African studies of Lomonosov Moscow State University, located at the very heart of Moscow right in front of the Kremlin and Red Square and within walking distance of other cultural, eating, entertainment and shopping sights.
Excursions and cultural activities can be organized upon request (at participants expense).
