Celebrate our grandmothers' generation for Women's History Month: these women and men struggled with the greatest economic and environmental disaster in American history. Honoring their spirited endurance is the purpose of a unique new interactive website and blog community.
Updated daily, a new epic story unfolds
*presenting strong female lead characters,
*helping readers picture economic and environmental disaster (the past is prelude) during the Depression, and
*giving readers, teachers, and students the unique opportunity to interact with a writer while a work is being created.
Read the whole story or select individual episodes.
This website, fully functional now at http://dustbowlpoetry.wordpress.com, is chosen to be linked as the first guest artist of the website honoring the late Horton Foote, screenplay writer of To Kill a Mockingbird and Tender Mercies.
The author is a new Great Plains writer. Her story is about a young farm family struggling to survive the Dust Bowl. Each day a new "mini-episode" will be added, and the author responds daily to blog comments on the story as it unfolds.
