Call for Panelists for 2011 Berkshires Conference of Women's Historians. I am arranging a panel around the Conference's theme on "Generations," with a series of papers to be submitted to the "Beauty and the Body" subcommittee. The panel is tentatively titled, "Economies of Beauty: Race, Gender and Marketplaces," and will explore the intersections of racial identity, commercial markets and ideas of gender. Papers about products, marketing, and advertising are strongly encouraged. A noted sociologist/historian of race and beauty has agreed to serve as the discussant. If you are interested please contact me with an abstract and C.V. no later than THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 25 at marcia.chatelain@ou.edu.
