The page lists free digital archival materials relevant to political, cultural, social and economic History of United States of America, since the colonial period until twentieth century.
Italian and European undergraduates, postgraduates and young researchers sometimes have difficulty accessing archival material. This is the reason why CISPEA supports the initiative of Matteo Battistini (University of Bologna) and Elena Baldassarri (University of Roma 3), who have listed the free digital archives of United States' Libraries and Universities. The list is composed of two main section: Since colonial time until the nineteenth century making of the nation, and United States as “global country” of the twentieth century. This section lists, in turn, eight chapters: Presidents; Women, Gender and Feminist Movements; Slavery, Afro-Americans and Civil Rights Movement; History of Native Americans; Environmental History; Political Thought and Sociology.
