April 16, 2010
Comparative Studies
Florida Atlantic University
Boca Raton, FL
DEADLINE: February 15
The Comparative Studies Student Association (CSA) invites you to submit an abstract (150-200 words) for the Comparative Studies Student Conference: Why Interdisciplinary Approaches to Learning? to be held on April 16, 2010 at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton Campus.
At the CSA’s second annual conference we address the question "Why Interdisciplinary Approaches to Learning?"
Comparative study approaches to knowledge continue to proliferate, yet many continue to seriously challenge the value of such a course of study or academic development. Thus, the purpose of this conference is to bring together scholars, artists, and activists to collectively illustrate the importantly innovative nature of interdisciplinary studies.
Toward this end CSA seeks scholarly papers and creative / performative works which utilize comparative, interdisciplinary approaches to explore social and cultural phenomena. We welcome submissions in all areas of the humanities and social sciences, including but not limited to cultural studies, creative writing, music, the visual/performing arts, philosophy, history, foreign languages and literatures. We strongly encourage individual and panel submissions based on work that has been completed or is in progress in current courses. Submissions may be in all languages.
We invite participation from graduate, faculty, and faculty nominated undergraduates engaged in comparative studies. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by March 7. Copies of accepted papers must be submitted by March 21.
Send submissions to: Jeff Nall: jnall2@fau.edu and Inbal Mazar: imazar@fau.edu
