Call for Papers
The History Graduate Student Association of Virginia Tech is pleased to announce an extension of the call for papers for the 13th Annual Brian Bertoti Innovative Perspectives in History Graduate Conference to be held at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center in Blacksburg, Virginia, from March 19-20, 2010. This interdisciplinary conference is intended to give young scholars the opportunity to present original research in a friendly yet scholarly atmosphere and to expand historical knowledge.
Addressing the Conference
The two-day conference will begin on Friday, March 19, with a keynote address entitled “Doing History in Public: Preserving Maggie Walker’s St. Luke’s Hall”, given by Dr. Heather Huyck, Professor of History at William & Mary. Following lunch on Saturday, March 20, Dr. Manuella Meyer, Professor of History at the University of Richmond will give an address entitled, “Of Bodies, Spirits and Souls: Geographies of Madness in Nineteenth-Century Rio de Janeiro.”
Submission Deadline and General Information
Presenters are asked to submit a one-page abstract and brief curriculum vitae by the new deadline of February 15, 2010, to Jill Ketron at HGSA.VT@gmail.com .
