Paula Findlen is Ubaldo Pierotti Professor and Chair of the History Department at Stanford University. She has published widely on early modern Italian history and the history of science, including Possessing Nature: Museums, Collecting and Scientific Culture in Early Modern Italy (1994); The Italian Renaissance: The Essential Readings (2002); Athanasius Kircher: The Last Man Who Knew Everything (2003); and most recently a co-edited volume, Italy's Eighteenth Century: Gender and Culture in the Age of the Grand Tour (2009).
