Seeking a Discussant For an AHA 2011 Panel
|
I am currently a discussant for a panel for the 2011 AHA annual meeting in Boston. This panel will think through non-European soldiers who were agents in European war and empire in the late nineteenth and twentieth century. The panelists are myself, Sarah Zimmerman, who is working on a social history of West African soldiers, and their dependents, who served in French Empire, Michelle Moyd, whose work seeks to unpack the agency, loyalties, and allegiance of the Askari of German East Africa, and Julian Saltman, whose presentation will address the deployment of West Indian soldiers in the Palestinian theater of WWI.
