[Short version: The abstract submission deadline is approaching in one week for EGU 2010 sessions. Submit your abstracts at http://meetings.copernicus.org/egu2010/ for NH8.1/BG1.4/SSS42 Heavy-metal contamination session.]
[Longer version:]
The European Geosciences Union (EGU) will hold its Sixth General Assembly from 02-07 May 2010 in Vienna, Austria. We invite you to participate in the session NH8.1/BG1.4/SSS42 Heavy-metal contamination of water, air, soil, and foodcrops.
Session: NH8.1/BG1.4/SSS42 Heavy-metal contamination of water, air, soil, and foodcrops (co-organized by the Natural Hazards, Biogeosciences & Soil Systems Sciences divisions).
Session description: In many countries, particularly developing ones, industrial outputs can result in heavy-metal contamination of the air, water, soils, and/or plants. This session focuses on heavy-metal contamination as a hazard, and solicits contributions that are applied and theoretical, in areas ranging from (a) field trials and modelling of heavy-metal contamination as it progresses from the source to the air, water, soils, and/or plants, (b) monitoring techniques, including low-cost, for heavy-metals in the environment, (c) mitigation of heavy-metal contamination in areas already effected, again including low-cost. We welcome contributions ranging from experimental, laboratory, to modelling, with emphasis (but not limited to) low-cost ideas and research that might be applied to developing countries. This session will consist of (a) an all poster session with participants brought around as a group by the chair to discuss each poster, and (b) if enough interest, an associated discussion session of one to two hours in a splinter room.
ABSTRACT DEADLINE: 18 January 2010 (financial support deadline has passed). Note that for a fixed period of time after the abstract deadline, the conveners of the session can manually upload abstracts on behalf of the author.
Web site for submission:
http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2010/sessionprogramme Within each programme group, you will find the name of each session, description, conveners, and a link "Abstract Submission". Using this link you are asked to log in to the Copernicus Office Meeting organizer. You may submit the text of your contribution as plain text, LaTeX, or MS Word content. Please pay attention to the First Author Rule as described at: http://meetings.copernicus.org/egu2010/abstract_management/how_to_submit_an_abstract.html
Please note that the deadline for conference pre-registration is 26 March 2010.
We look forward to seeing you in Vienna. Further information about the EGU General Assembly 2010 can be found at
