The Centre for Global Economic History at Utrecht University, the Netherlands, wishes to invite the submission of abstracts for a conference to be held in Utrecht from the 7th until the 10th of October 2010, on the topic of "Marriage patterns, household formation and economic development".
This conference aims to address the following areas:
1) A worldwide overview of household organisation;
2) The effect of marriage patterns on economic development;
3) Theoretical insights into the functional nature of marriage patterns.
By attracting historians, economists, demographers, anthropologists and sociologists we hope to generate discussion of a wide number issues as they relate to this important topic.
