Title: Sacred and Profane Consumption in Boccaccio's Decameron and Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.

Description: This panel will thematically explore the social and cultural implications of how sacred and profane acts of consumption depicted in Boccaccio's Decameron and Chaucer's Canterbury Tales define relationships between people and the spaces they inhabit. Proposals concerning the consumption of material goods and how such acts relate to gender, power, and culture will be of particular interest. Please submit a 350-500 word abstract via email by January 15, 2010.
