Under the theme “FreshWater”, the 2010 meeting of the International Commission on the History of Nautical Science seeks papers/short communications exploring the scholarly contexts of navigation and hydrography of fresh waters (rivers, great lakes) worldwide. Proposals covering traditional conference themes and offering new research and/or new perspectives are also welcome. The core subjects of these meetings were nautical science, the art of navigation, astronomy and scientific instruments; cartography; naval architecture and shipbuilding; maritime exploration and travel, and the history of science and art.
