The University of Hyderabad is pleased to announce the call for papers for national conference on "Sanskrit Texts of Ayurveda and Yoga and their Profound Global Significance", a two day conference to be held between 21-22 March, 2010 at the Department of Sanskrit Studies, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad.
The universe – Brahmanda is manifestation of divinity. Hence universe is potentially divine. According to Ayurveda, everything existing in this universe, matter or energy, living or non-living, is medicine if properly used. Improper use will result in visha (poison). Basic pharmacology - bheshajakalpa of Ayurveda holds good to all existing healing art whether modern or ancient. Etymology of the words “Aushadha” and “Bhesaja” clearly elucidates at a sweep all present and future medication of any system.
This conference intends to highlight the global relevance of Vedic heritage, particularly Ayurveda, and Shaddarshana (six systems of Vedic philosophy) in general and Yoga in particular. Original research papers (written in English/Sanskrit) are invited.
Participants intending to submit a paper should send an abstract of 600 words maximum as a pdf attachment to smc.hcu@gmail.com by 19th January, 2010
