CALL FOR PAPERS
Making Connections
GEMELA (Grupo de Estudios sobre la Mujer en España y las Américas, pre-
1800) invites abstracts for it biennial conference to be hosted by Mount
Holyoke College in South Hadley and UMass-Amherst, Massachussets, on
September 23-25, 2010.
Sponsored by Mount Holyoke College, UMass-Amherst and GEMELA, the
conference will focus on women’s cultural production in Medieval and Early
Modern Spain and Colonial Latin America. Papers or sessions that focus on
making connections between geographical spaces, or between disciplines will
be highly appreciated. We also welcome suggestions for discussion papers
and/or workshops on theory, pedagogy, and other related topics. Papers may
be delivered in Spanish or English.
The deadline for sending one-page abstracts is 15 April 2010. Graduate Students
should send an abstract along with a full text (7-10 pages max.) Papers by
graduate students will automatically be submitted to the Graduate Student

All presenters must pay 2010 membership
($30 for two years) and the conference registration
fee ($100 faculty/$50 students) by June 1, 2010.
Participants traveling from abroad can pay
upon arrival at the conference, but need
to confirm participation by June 1, 2010.
