Louisiana and the Caribbean in the Atlantic World:
Environments, Histories and Cultures
LSU’s Louisiana and Caribbean Studies and Atlantic Studies Programs invite proposals for papers to be presented at a Conference, Louisiana and the Caribbean in the Atlantic World, to be held Sunday, May 23 – Monday, May 24, 2010 at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. The conference seeks to bring together scholars engaged in the study of environments, histories and cultures of Louisiana, the Caribbean, West Africa and the Atlantic World at large, from the Contact period to present, to reflect on ways their research can be enriched through collaborative work using an Atlantic perspective. Papers that consider topics crossing these geographic and temporal boundaries and/or that involve multidisciplinary perspectives (including multi-authored papers) will be especially welcomed.
Send abstracts of up to 500 words (for a 20 min. paper presentation) to Atlantic Studies Coordinator Joseph Powell (jpowell@lsu.edu) by March 1, 2010. Abstracts should include the author’s current address, affiliation (if any) and at least three keywords.
