The symposium aims to reveal the reflections of penetrations/interactions between East and West considering the location of Ottomans among them and the positions of the emerged architectures in the Mediterranean cultural basin of the sixteenth century. In this context, the symposium welcomes the critical interpretations based on the architectures of East and West of the period along with research not solely focusing on Sinan and Ottoman architecture. The expected discussion themes could be about:
• Sinan and his contemporaries in 16th century architectural medium
• Interactions between “East and West” around 16th century art and architecture
• 16th century cultural medium: the social and cultural context producing the architectures, interpreting them and affecting from them.
For the symposium, researchers must send an abstract of maximum 300 words in MS Word format by 15th January 2010 in Turkish or English and a brief CV to sinangunleri@gmail.com e-mail address.The papers will be internationally published in Turkish and English after the editing process.
