We are currently seeking abstracts of 200-300 words for insightful, theoretical, and critical essays that address any aspect of the language, literature and folk tradition of the Edo people. It has been observed that not much work has been done on the literary and overall folkloric essence of Benin in a book form. This conference intends to create a forum for the emergence of a critical source book on the Language, literature and folklore of the Edo (Benin) society. We want to know how the language and literature have developed over time; we are also interested in the transformation or sustainability of the Edo traditional values in the global village, among others. Essays can focus on (but are by no means limited to) areas such as language, literature, orality, challenges of translation, philosophy and globalization. The proceedings of the conference will go through a peer review process and selected articles will be edited and published into a book. Send abstracts in MS Word or pdf format to insbeninst@gmail.com not later than by March 30, 2010.
