The "Language in Action" symposium will bring together educators who are interested in improving the use of service-learning pedagogy as it involves undergraduates' work with immigrant populations.
The symposium may be of particular interest to instructors of Spanish language/culture courses whose students may work with populations learning English as a second language; faculty from other disciplines whose students work with migrant and immigrant populations; coordinators of service-learning programs that support undergraduates' engagement with immigrant populations; teachers of English as a Second Language who coordinate service placements in their schools. We especially encourage participation by teams comprising these different types of instructors.
