I am in search of photographs for the second volume of my book, "State Troops and Volunteers: A Photographic History of North Carolina During the Civil War."
I have recently contracted with the Historical Publications Section, Office of Archives and History, North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, to produce this new volume, to appear in conjunction with the forthcoming 150th anniversary of the war. The first volume of this series (also from Historical Publications) contained more than 600 images, most of which had never before been published.
I seek original images of North Carolinians between 1840 and 1870. The majority of Civil War era photographs that survive today are privately held by the descendants of the men and women depicted in them. I invite those of you who possess such images and are interested in sharing them in this upcoming publication to contact me by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org), by traditional mail (P.O.Box 30, Timberlake, NC 27583), or by telephone (336-364-1495).
