The Journal of Texas Music History seeks submissions from a broad range of scholars covering a variety of topics related to Texas and Southwestern music history. The central theme should focus on the musical history of Texas and the Southwest. However, articles may include such related topics as Texas-born musicians who did the bulk of their work outside of the state, persons not born in Texas but whose work had a significant impact on the musical history of the Southwest, or larger national trends that somehow involve music or musicians from the Southwest.
The Journal of Texas Music History is a scholarly journal published annually by the Center for Texas Music History, Department of History, Texas State University-San Marcos (www.txstate.edu/ctmh). We are currently seeking submissions for publication in Fall of 2010.
Past articles include:
“The 'Baptist Beat' in Modern Jazz: Texan Gene Ramey in Kansas City and New York”
“Celebrating ‘Das Deutsche Lied’ in Texas”
“Janis Joplin: The Hippie Blues Singer as Feminist Heroine”
“Woody Guthrie and the Christian Left”
