Contemporary Interdisciplinary Scholarship on Gender and Sexuality
A Symposium hosted by the Women’s Studies Department
at The Ohio State University
April 9-10, 2010
The graduate students at The Ohio State University Department of Women’s Studies invite your submissions for our upcoming Symposium on Contemporary Interdisciplinary Scholarship on Gender, and Sexuality.
This symposium proposes to stimulate a dialogue and intellectual exchange about contemporary gender and sexuality scholarship in light of the increasing interest in and importance of interdisciplinarity in the arts, humanities and social sciences. The symposium will also entertain the increasing use of technology within our scholarship, and technology and media as a topic of research. This two-day event will include graduate and undergraduate student presentation panels, and seminars about interdisciplinarity, transnationality, and media/technology with professors Jasbir Puar (Women’s and Gender Studies, Rutgers), Elaine Richardson (Education, Ohio State), and David Staley (history, Ohio State).
We invite you to submit papers on the following topics in light of our theme of interdisciplinarity in gender and sexuality studies scholarship:
Sexing race and politics
Gender, Sex, and Literacy
Transnational gender and sexuality
Rereading traditional scholarship through a feminist/queer lens
Issues of humanism and post-humanism in gender and sexuality studies
Graduate students interested in participating should submit a 250-500 word abstract of a 15 minute paper presentation that fits the parameters of the above guidelines to Melanie Beaudette (email@example.com) or Skylar Brez (firstname.lastname@example.org) by January 15, 2009.
