I am putting together a panel on PUBLICITY STUNTS for the Mid-America Theatre Conference to be held at the Hyatt Regency, Cleveland, Ohio on March 4-7, 2010 and am still looking for one more paper to fill out the panel.
Other papers deal with the following:
How the 1808 ceremonial laying of a new cornerstone for the immolated Covent Garden Theatre is a publicity stunt that becomes "stunted publicity" when viewed through the lens of the Old Price Riots that occurred at the theatre's opening the following year.
How the publicity stunts used by early twentieth-century magicians to advertise their stage performances served to create immersive environments for audiences.
If interested please send your paper abstract (250 words max.) and contact information to Beth Kattelman, kattelman.1@osu.edu by October 14th. (Sorry about the short notice!)
