There will be an international symposium to honour Professor Beban Sammy Chumbow on the occasion of his 65th birthday at the University of Yaounde I, Cameroon, from 7th to 10th April 2010. The theme of the symposium is "Languages of Education in Africa: Issues, Challenges and Perspectives." Discussions will centre around the following five sub-themes:
1. Language policy and planning
2. Mother tongue based education in Africa
3. Pidgin English in education
4. Exoglossic languages as media of instruction
5. Linguistic analyses (phonology, morphology, lexicology,
syntax, corpus linguistics, etc.)
Abstract submission deadline: November 30th, 2009
Abstract must be submitted as email attachment: one annonymous and the other bearing author's name, affilliation, email contact.
