I am putting together a panel submission for the History Section of the Western Social Science Association Annual Conference on the topic of “Identity in Early American Cross-Cultural Encounters”
Panel Topic: Identity in Early American Cross-Cultural Encounters
How did issues of identity charge cross-cultural encounters between Europeans, Africans, and/or Native Americans in North American during the 15th-17th Centuries? Topics may include but are not limited to the following:
Race, Class, Gender, Ethnicity
Sexuality
Violence
Religion
History of the Body
Colonialism
Resistance
