CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Afro-Hispanic subjectivities
The Cincinnati Romance Review is a peer-reviewed electronic journal published by the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. The Review was founded in 1981-82, the year after the Cincinnati Conference on Romance Languages and Literatures began. Félix Manchacatorre and Eric Pennington were the managing editors, John Wilhite the supervising editor, and Donald W. Bleznick the executive editor. Since 2008, the Cincinnati Romance Review has been published in electronic form.
We are now accepting articles for our next volume on Afro-Hispanic subjectivities to be published on November 2010. Manuscripts are accepted in Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese or English. Maximum length recommended: 30 pages including bibliography and endnotes. Articles should be submitted not later than May 1, 2010. All essays should be original and unpublished. Proposals are welcome on, but not limited to, the following topics:
•Afro-Hispanic identities in Spain, Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean
•Afro-descendant authors
•Literature, film, and performance from
•Formation of transnational identities
•Intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and/or class
•Processes of racialization
Those interested in contributing to this volume should send a brief abstract (approximately 300 words) of your proposed essay, accompanied by a short biography (including name and affiliation). Abstracts and biographies should be sent electronically to patricia.valladares-ruiz@uc.edu by November 15, 2009.
