The symposium /dis/connecting/media/ (Basel, 1.-3. October 2009) brings together international scholars from different cultural- and socio-scientific studies to present and discuss theories, methods and case studies about the social and cultural relevance of the (mobile) telephony. A range of interdisciplinary papers from the fields of media, literature, theatre, as well as sociology, philosophy, and arts aim to investigate the multi-faceted phenomena of the (mobile) telephone. The programme is organised into eight thematic blocks plus three evening lectures accompanied by the framework programme of the Forum /Fest_Netz/. The symposium opens with a film lecture in Stadtkino Basel (art cinema) and closes with art presentations in [plug.in] (a space for contemporary art).
