Submissions are invited for a new edited publication from Manchester University Press which
will provide a historical perspective on Irish journalism up to 1921. The book will be a forum for scholarly work of both breadth and depth in the area of Irish journalism history which has long been a neglected subject of inquiry.
The book will focus on the period up to 1921 and proposals are welcomed for chapters in areas not exclusively confined to the following: those which shed light on journalism
practice; those which focus on the business of journalism, those which deal with regional journalism or niche newspapers and other publications; and those which examine the lives and work of Irish journalists based at home or abroad
The book will be edited by Kevin Rafter and will be published by Manchester University Press in
hardback and paperback format in 2010.
Proposals to include an abstract of approximately 250 words should be sent by email. Please submit
chapter proposals to:
Dr Kevin Rafter
School, IADT, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin, Ireland.
