The co-editors Michael Boehringer (University of Waterloo) and Susanne Hochreiter (Universität Wien) invite contributions on the topic:
Zeitenwende: Österreichische Literatur seit dem Millennium, 2000-2010
for an edited volume to be published with an Austrian publisher, scheduled to appear late 2010/early 2011.
The envisioned volume intends to provide a first scholarly overview of Austrian literature of the New Millennium. How do both established and new Austrian authors engage with the political, cultural, economical, and technological changes associated with the first decade of the 21st century? Are there dominant themes and topics to be detected in the Austrian literature of the last decade? Summary treatments of one or more authors or one or more works are equally welcome, but the focus of the essays should be on the first decade of this millennium.
Please send inquiries, expressions of interest in form of a 500-word abstract, contact information, and a short biographical outline to either editor. Submissions are accepted in either German or English. Final essays should range between 15-25 pages (30,000-45,000 characters).
Deadline for Abstracts: October 1, 2009
Notification of Acceptance: November 1, 2009
Deadline for Final Essays: June 1, 2010
