Western Jewish Studies Association Conference,
Arizona State University, Phoenix, March 14-15, 2010
Call for paper and panel proposals on all areas of Jewish Studies regardless of discipline, geographical focus, or time period. The WJSA encourages papers and panels on Jews in the American West and pedagogical aspects in Jewish Studies. Since the conference is being held in conjunction with the annual Western Region American Academy of Religion and Pacific Coast Society of Biblical Studies Conferences, papers and panels on Judaism and its relationship to other religions will be particularly welcome.
Paper proposals should be no longer than one double spaced typed page and should be submitted with a short CV that contains contact information. Organizers of panels should submit a cover sheet with the title of the panel and the titles of each of the papers and contact information for each presenter, followed by the individual paper proposals and brief CVs. All interested scholars of Jewish Studies, including advanced graduate students, are invited to submit proposals for papers/presentations/workshops.
Although there is no WSJA membership requirement for participation in the conference, there is, a higher registration fee for non-members. All registration fees must be paid by January 30, 2010 in order to be listed on the program.
Deadline for submission of proposals: November 15, 2009. Send proposals to Lawrence Baron, lbaron@mail.sdsu.edu Specific time assignments will be announced to participants as soon as the organization of the program is completed. Individuals wishing to chair a session rather than give a paper are invited to submit a curriculum vitae, with an indication of areas of expertise.
For membership information for the WJSA, contact Professor Lawrence Baron, President, WJSA, Department of History, San Diego State University, San Diego, CA 92182; e-mail: lbaron@mail.sdsu.edu.
