The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, in partnership with PODetc (Professional Online Development from the Educational Technology Community), is pleased to offer the following ONLINE continuing education courses in technology and technology integration beginning in months of September and October.
These courses focus on instructional technology integration in the classroom and are designed to help educators meet specific International Society of Technology Education (ISTE), National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for Educators, Administrators, and Students; the Wisconsin PI 34 Teacher Standards, and the Partnership for 21st Century Learning Skills.
These courses are geared towards K-12 educators, administrators, and technical and community college instructors. All courses are available for one graduate credit or may be taken as a noncredit participant.
#0561C -- Introduction to Instructional Technology in the Classroom (1 graduate credit)
What does it mean to be truly technologically literate? The International Society of Technology Education (ISTE) defines it as proficiency for students in the following six areas: Creativity and Innovation; Communication and Collaboration; Research and Information Fluency; Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision Making; Digital Citizenship; and Technology Operations and Concepts. This three-week, online survey course will introduce K-12 educators to the main threads of the ISTE National Education Technology Standards (NETS), and Wisconsin fourth, eighth, and twelfth grade technology proficiency standards.

This online course will assist you in beginning your journey of surveying and evaluating various Web 2.0 applications for use in your classroom! Through exploration and investigation, you will become more in-tune to the innovations in technology and how they relate to the K-12 education field. You will examine the latest educational technologies, learn ways to effectively incorporate new technology into your curriculum, and develop skills to become a leader of technology use in your own organization! #0588C – Technology Literacy 101: Foundations in Collaborative Tools (1 graduate credit)
This course will introduce educators to the concept of “cloud computing” and the use of open source ware to establish their own presence on the web for purposes of professional development and collaboration. Participants will establish their web presence with the creation of an online home site. Course activities will then follow that promote online collaboration in creating documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Participants will complete the course by linking their online workspaces and documents to their home-site for future access and regulated sharing. Through the design of the online course, participants will collaborate and share ideas in a community of practice throughout the experience.

This online course is appropriate for administrators, teachers, library media specialists, and technology leaders.
