In contemporary Western society Christian understandings of death are often challenged by the individualism of a changing culture, and the language of Christian hope is currently muted. Articles of approx. 8000 words are invited for a themed issue of IJSCC which will focus on a number of aspects of research currently being undertaken on human mortality, with particular reference to the concept of the Church Triumphant.
They may focus on ecclesiology in relation to the Christian hope; liturgy and prayer in relation to death, dying and the departed; cultural change and its impact on Christian understanding of death, dying, disposal and memorialisation; and significant interactions between the Christian tradition and other faiths in this area.
Deadline for submission of Abstract (max. 500 words) by 30 October, 2009.
All abstracts and articles, and any other communications related to this call for papers must be sent to the Academic Editors at: editorsijscc@eastmarden.net
