For two weeks in the fall of 1909, New York threw itself the biggest party in its history--attracting millions to a sprawling festival 150 miles long, from Manhattan up the Hudson River to Albany. Join Kathleen Eagen Johnson, author of "The Hudson-Fulton Celebration: New York’s River Festival of 1909 and the Making of a Metropolis" (Fordham University Press & Historic Hudson Valley, 2009), as she explores the celebration marking the 300th anniversary of Hudson’s voyage and the centennial of Robert Fulton’s first successful run of his steamship and what it meant to four million New Yorkers and one million out-of-town guests. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition "Amsterdam/New Amsterdam: The Worlds of Henry Hudson." Reservations required. $6 Museum members; $8 seniors and students; $12 non-members.
