Call for Papers: PUNK
2010 Southwest/Texas Popular Culture/American Culture Association
Proposals are now being accepted for the Punk Area.
Papers covering punk’s relationship to comics, movies, music, novels, and culture will be all considered.
Suggestions for topics include but are not limited to the following:
• The punk and its influence on culture and fashion
• The sell(out) of punk
• Kurt Cobain
• Politics of Punk: rebellion revolution reform
• The works of William Gibson and other Cyber-punk authors
• The works of Poppy Z. Brite and other Splatter-punk authors
• Punk and comics such as Transmetropolitan, Tank Girl, The Invisibles, and others
Abstracts of 100-250 words and/or questions may be sent to Bryan L. Jones at the email or physical address below. Graduate students are particularly welcome. Please pass along this call to friends, students and colleagues.
31th Annual Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico
February 10-13, 2010
The 2009 SW/TX PCA/ACA Conference will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Hyatt Regency downtown.
•Priority Submission and Registration: Nov. 15, 2009.
•Final Submission Deadline: Dec. 15, 2009.
•Conference Registration: Dec. 31, 2009 (all participants must be registered by this date!).
