Debido al número y a la importancia de los temas planteados, los estudios se limitarán a los países de la dorsal andina, porque en ellos tuvieron lugar acontecimientos decisivos que se propagaron hacia otras regiones del espacio americano. Es decir: los virreinatos de Nueva Granada y del Perú, y después, las Repúblicas nacidas de la fragmentación de estas estructuras: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador y Perú, sin olvidar Bolivia).
