The North American Religions Section (NARS) of the American Academy of Religion invites nominations (including self-nominations) for three positions on its Steering Committee. The length of term is three years.
Members of the Committee are responsible for evaluating proposals for the annual meeting program and for the final program design. Nominees must have been members of the AAR for one year and commit to attending annual
meetings while on the Committee.
NARS encourages the use of diverse sources and multiple approaches to the study of religions in North America. In most sessions we seek to stimulate comparative discussion across a range of traditions around
particular themes. Most years we also devote one session to new work on a particular religious tradition and another to a recently published book of outstanding merit in the field. Therefore, we especially appreciate receiving nominations of persons who represent the diversity --disciplinary, regional, and programmatic -- within the
Academy generally and on NARS topics specifically.
All nominations are welcome. Please send them by October 1, 2009, to Kathleen Flake (kathleen.flake@vanderbilt.edu) and include the following
information for each nominee: full name, institutional affiliation, and contact information.
