This is a call for panelists for the Environmental History conference in Portland, OR 2010. I am putting together a panel on conservation's hidden connections and agendas. It will examine some of the hidden connections between conservation's policies, agents, and ideas. The panel has a commenter and chair and my own work deals with the ways in which conservation was a tool of American Empire among Filipinos and Native Americans during the Progressive era. I am hoping to find two other panelists with papers that explore conservation's interactions with gender, race, empire, class struggles or other less known stories. Please send a short - 100 word - abstract.
