Afrika Nipashe is a new academic journal based at the University of Nairobi which focuses on the themes of African politics, development, and international relations. The editors believe there are many young scholars in Africa who have the potential to make cutting-edge contributions to these fields but who have insufficient access to means of publishing their work.
Our journal therefore seeks submissions for its first issue from this group of scholars. We will give preference to scholars who offer fresh insight into topics relating to our three themes. Book reviews as well as comparative studies of Africa and other developing regions will also be considered. Articles should be between 5,000 and 10,000 words.
Afrika Nipashe is starting off as a quarterly journal, but we hope to become a bi-monthly journal with time. Our first issue will be launched in Nairobi and Washington, D.C. in July, 2009. We are currently distributing copies via the internet only, but plan to make hard copies available in 2010. Electronic subscriptions are free for the first year. If you would like to be emailed a copy of the first four issues free of cost, please email one of the editors.
