CFP: Detective Fiction (MAPACA 6/15/09; 11/5/09 - 11/7/09)
The Detective Fiction Area of the Mid-Atlantic Popular Culture Association seeks proposals for the annual MAPACA conference, which will be held this year in Boston, MA, November 5-7, 2009.
Proposals on all aspects and periods of mystery and detective fiction are welcome. This includes ancient and modern precursors to Poe's "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" (1841), as well as successors working in the multitude of sub-genres falling under the larger designations of detective, mystery, or crime fiction. Proposals that address the intersection of detective fiction with other media (e.g., graphic novels, film, television, etc.) and genres (e.g., sci-fi, horror, domestic fiction, etc.) are especially welcome.
Please send a 250-word abstract and a brief bio to Alexander Howe at ahowe@udc.edu. Abstract deadline: June 15, 2009
For more information on the conference, please visit the MAPACA homepage at:
