Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA) Comparative/World Literatures Areas
41st Convention, April 7-11, 2010
Montreal, Canada (American citizens require passports)
What is the value of a comparative approach to postcolonial literary and cultural studies? How might a comparative framework impact our understanding of colonialism, coloniality, and postcoloniality? This panel asks scholars from across disciplines to reflect on colonialism--past and present, internal to nations or externally imposed. We invite papers analyzing colonial and postcolonial texts (including, but not limited to, literature, media, and film) from single or multiple linguistic and national contexts. 250 word abstract by 9/30/09 to Shakti Jaising (sjaising@eden.rutgers.edu) and Johanna Wagner (jrwagner@rutgers.edu).
