We invite original submissions on the evolving relationship between Multinational Corporations (MNCs) and states, with emphasis on the perceived benefits and costs of foreign direct investment at the local, national, regional, and/or international levels, or some industry or issue specific aspect of state-MNC relations. Contributions might assess the broadest political, economic, and social impact of MNCs and evaluate the effectiveness or desirability of various attempts to control, limit, regulate, or empower their activities. These issues might be approached from any social-scientific perspective.
Submissions should range from 6,000 to 8,000 words. The objective of this project is to submit a body of 5 to 7 essays to a themed issue of a peer reviewed academic journal. As such, your submission would be expected to meet the usual criteria of quality, originality, and significance applied to academic papers.
Interested scholars are invited to submit a proposal including a brief CV and a 400 to 500 word abstract by June 15, 2009. Previously published material cannot be considered. The Editors will inform applicants of the status of their proposal, and the project, at the earliest possible date.
Please submit your abstracts electronically in MS Word compatible format to Robert M. A. Crawford at rmac@interchange.ubc.ca
