Master Programme (M.A.) in Eastern Mediterranean Studies
The Eastern Mediterranean Studies MA program belongs jointly to the departments of Archeology and Art History, English Literature and Humanities, and History. The program promotes the exploration of this wealth of civilization, and an understanding of the restless and ever-changing political and cultural landscape of the region. Cyprus lies at the heart of this geographical region, and its turbulent history and rich culture is inextricably linked with it.
Teaching and research interests of the departments faculty members cover a wide range of areas and periods, and represent diverse approaches to the study of the past and present.
The program leading to the M.A. degree is a two year (4 semester) program of full-time study involving seven taught courses, a seminar course and thesis. However, the Eastern Mediterranean Studies program also offers students the possibility of completing their studies and obtaining their degree in one year, in a 3:4 or 4:3 course schedule, the seminar course and thesis. Students who choose this option will start preparing their thesis, under the supervision of a member of one of the three departments, in their second semester. Part-time enrollment is also permitted enabling students to complete their study in six semesters.
