We seek a contributor to a panel for the Modernist Studies Association to be held in Montreal, November 5-8 2009. The panel explores the intersection of fashion, Modernism, and technology.
One panelist’s paper discusses the influence on transportation and travel on the development of the sportswear industry. Another panelist compares the fashion in French and American silent films.
Potential topics for a third paper include by are not limited to:
• technology and innovations in textile production
• designers who use technologically advanced methods or materials
• fashion photography
• masculinity and modernism
• technology and grooming
• the influence of an art movement on fashion trends
• consumption, youth, and fashion
As we are replacing a scholar who as dropped out, our deadline to find a new panelist is Sunday, May 11. Interested scholars should forward a several paragraph abstract to firstname.lastname@example.org by Sunday May 11.
