The Francophone World and the Western Hemisphere is a two-day conference of some 200 professionals with interest in Francophone institutions of higher education. The conference will be held at Buffalo State College in Buffalo, New York from July 12-14 2009.
The primary purpose of the conference is to invigorate discussion and develop an agenda toward increasing cooperation among higher education institutions in the Francophone world of the Western hemisphere. The secondary purpose of the conference is to help bridge the rupture in Francophone-Anglophone relations in the multicultural Western hemisphere. The conference participants will develop action plans toward long-term collaborative agendas.
Nine topics will be addressed: the humanities, the social sciences, science and engineering, business and economics, health, education, the arts, politics and sports. Deliberations on these topics, including those concerning the North-South dialogue, will be published together with action plans in the Conference Proceedings.
This international conference will be interdisciplinary and multicultural.
Conference registration fee is $400. This fee covers all registration materials, conference programs, attendance at chosen panels, and all meals (breakfasts, lunches, afternoon refreshments and dinners). Participants are responsible for transportation to the conference, local travel, and hotel accommodations. A block of rooms at discounted prices for conference attendees, is available at the Holiday Inn. Transportation to and from the hotel is covered by the registration fee.
Le Monde Francophone et l’Hémisphère Occidental
Le Monde Francophone et l’Hémisphère Occidental est un Congrès de deux jours auquel participeront 200 professionnels portant un intérêt aux institutions francophones de l’enseignement supérieur. Le congrès se déroulera à Buffalo State College à Buffalo, New York le 12-14 Juillet, 2009.
Le but principal du Congrès est de stimuler la discussion et de développer des plans d’action visant à établir des agendas communs à long terme entre les institutions de l’enseignement supérieur dans le monde francophone de l’Hémisphère Occidental. Le but secondaire est d’aider à combler le vide qui existe et de rétablir le contact après la rupture des bonnes relations Francophones et Anglophones dans le cadre multiculturel de l’Hémisphère Occidental.
Neuf thèmes principaux seront abordés: les humanités, les sciences sociales, les sciences et l’ingénierie, le commerce et l’économie, la santé, l’éducation, les arts, la politique et le sport.
Les débats du Congrès sur la reconstruction de nos relations politiques, culturelles et commerciales et sur la nécessité du dialogue Nord/Sud, y compris les projets de concretisation, seront publiés dans les Actes du Congrès.
Ce congrès international est de nature multidisciplinaire et multiculturelle.
Le montant des frais d’inscription au congrès est de $400. Il recouvre tout le matériel d’inscription, les programmes du congrès et tous les repas y compris une collation dans l’après-midi. Les participants au congrès doivent payer leurs propres frais de transport au congrès, leurs frais de déplacements sur le site du congrès et les frais de séjour à l’hôtel. Un certain nombre de chambres d’hôtel sont réservées à des tarifs réduits au Holiday Inn pour les congressistes. Les frais de transport de l’hôtel à Buffalo State College et de retour à l’hôtel sont inclus dans les frais d’inscription au Congrès.
