Following the success of the two international conferences on culture, events and tourism, a 3rd international conference will be held from 22-25 April, 2010 in Anissaras-Hersonissos, 25 km from the beautiful coastal city of Heraklion, Crete. The conference will be hosted by TEI Heraklion, Crete and the School of Sport, Leisure and Travel, Buckinghamshire New University, UK
The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for academics, emerging researchers, policy-makers, industry practitioners, and destination management and marketing professionals to discuss and debate key issues in the development and management of sustainable tourism in an era of climate change.
Themes
The conference will consider, but not be limited to, the following indicative themes:
-Alternative tourism development
-Special interest and niche tourism
-Diversifying the tourism product
-Visitor management strategies for destinations
-Tourism and sustainable development: the global-local nexus
-Tourism and the environment: sustainability and economic restructuring
-Land and culture: sustainable tourism and indigenous people

-Globalisation, sustainability and development
-Local participation in decision making
-Sustainable local / destination partnerships: Clustering and networking
-Marketing issues of sustainable tourism
