The Playful Paradox: the 2nd Postgraduate Creative Writing Conference, Sat., 23rd May 2009, 9.30am-5pm; Univ. Bedfordshire, Park Square, Luton LU1 3JU.
Delegate registrations are now being invited for this informal conference which presents a 'once-in-a-year' opportunity for postgraduate students in creative writing programmes to pose, among their peers, questions rarely asked and to hear answers rarely given. And to showcase their work and meet fellow students, staff and lecturers from throughout the world. And to hear - and network with - authors, scriptwriters, poets, and other practitioners, distinguished both within and beyond academia.
Keynote speakers will include the writers Judy Corbalis, Emma Darwin, Tiffany Murray and Kate Pullinger. More than 20 postgraduate or postdoctoral delegates will also make presentations.
Registration incl. buffet lunch is free to students and staff at any university. Prebooking is essential by e-mail: creativewriting@beds.ac.uk. Abstracts may still be submitted until 26th April. For the programme and other details, see the Playful Paradox website: cwparadox.wikidot.com.
The event is part of BFest, a showcase for new and emerging artistic talent, which features more than 50 literary and cultural events adjacent to the conference. For the full BFest programme, see: www.lutonartsfestival.org.
