New Historians Postgraduate Conference
Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
31 August to 1 September 2009
The postgraduate students from the History Programme of Victoria University of Wellington are holding the fourth annual New Historians Postgraduate Conference at Victoria University from 31 August to 1 September 2009.
In previous years the conference has been an excellent chance for feedback and discussion on a wide range of topics, and is also good preparation for the upcoming NZHA conference in November this year. Past conferences have attracted postgraduate students from Auckland, Canterbury, Otago and Waikato Universities, and it is an opportunity to network with students from around the country.
Twenty minute papers are invited on all historical themes, topics or issues from MA or PHD students. In previous years the conference has been interdisciplinary in nature and papers on historical topics from disciplines other than history are invited. We welcome and encourage students from outside Wellington.
Please submit an abstract of around 250 words, as well as your name, contact details and a brief biographical statement to James Taylor (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The deadline for abstracts is 13 July 2009.
Provisionally, registration for presenters will be free. There will be a conference dinner on 1 September.
