Title: Experts in Disaster: Emergency Management Professionals in the United States, 1970s-1990s
Abstract: What is "emergency management"? Since the 1970s this profession has grown remarkably, but it's core research and practice competencies have been in flux--especially in the areas of nursing and public health. This paper consders the interplay among this new discipline and the more traditional "emergency managers" in the United States.
